Buying a car for new year? Here are 5 great models to consider for 2022.

Updated: Nov 16, 2021

1. 2022 BMW M3

Providing an excellent ride in an upscale interior that offers room for up to four adult passengers, the BMW M3 is a great example of a cool sports car that can transport your friends and family. Model years 2017 and 2018 come in one trim and are powered by a 425-hp 3.0L turbocharged inline-six engine that can be paired with a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

2. 2022 Subaru BRZ

Prioritizing affordability and lightweight agility over high horsepower and high-priced exclusivity, the 2022 Subaru BRZ continues to be a pure sports car for everyone. The completely redesigned rear-drive-only coupe remains a unique entry in Subaru's otherwise all-wheel-drive lineup.

3. 2022 Toyota GR 86

The second-generation Toyota GR 86 is due for the 2022 model year, and although it's completely new, it follows the same rear-wheel-drive formula as the first-gen car. The 2022 GR 86 will be powered by a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine and a standard six-speed manual transmission. This time around, Toyota has addressed our principal complaint with the last generation and has given the GR 86 more horsepower for 2022. The new model is powered by a 2.4-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine that makes 228 horsepower, which is 23 hp more than the outgoing model's 2.0-liter mill.

4. 2022 Dodge Charger

The Dodge Charger model is the Campbell's Chicken Noodle of souped-up American muscle—they appeal to just about anybody. Now, coming later this year, Dodge is adding a dash of horsepower and unlocking more option combinations with exclusive new parts with a Jailbreak option package.

5.Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye Widebody

Few new cars could be sent back to the late '60s or early '70s and not look like they're from the future, but the 2022 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is one that could. Sure, the coupe's assortment of available driver assists and crisp touchscreen infotainment system would be out of place, but its thundering V-8, gas-sucking fuel economy, and retro appearance would fit right in.
